Anime music videos combine anime, music and creativity to create a completely new music video! Whether it’s effects fireworks, storytime or sporty action editing, we’re once again calling for the Anime Anime Music Video’s combine anime, music and creativity to create a completely new music video! Whether it’s effects fireworks, storytime or sporty action editing, we are once again calling for the Anime Music Video (AMV) competition at AniNite!
This year without a theme, but with a special prize for the work that best captures the synchronization of song elements and anime scenes!

How this is achieved is of secondary importance, externally via effects, internally via scenes, via hard cuts or other creative solutions. The most important thing is to have fun editing and fun watching!

The classic jury evaluation with differentiated criteria will of course still take place, and remains the main focus!

Would you like to take part in one of Aninite’s most popular and biggest competitions?
No problem, then read everything carefully and register.

Closing date: 27.07.26

All videos are appropriately introduced and credited. After the respective category, the audience favorite will be determined. The award ceremony will take place after the competition.

  • Beginner: Up to 3 AMVs made.
  • Advanced: made 4 or more AMVs or already won jury awards.

Set of rules

Deadline: 27.7.26 08:00

Material
For this AMV contest, we stipulate that animated video material of all origins is valid as a source. From filmed flipbooks to Pixar films to the medium that brought most of us together: Anime. For live-action footage of humans, it will be decided on a case-by-case basis, but if it doesn’t get out of hand, it can be assumed that it will be waved through. As a rule of thumb, an upper limit of traditionally one third can be used as a guide, although compositions are not necessarily taken into account here.

We expressly ask you to cite the source of the materials used to the best of your knowledge and belief. However, we would like to point out that the main focus should remain on Asian pop culture and video material inspired by it.

As a small note: The main focus is on creating new fan art from other people’s material. It has a negative effect on the rating if a Naruto opening is cut to the same anime.

No legally prohibited material may be used. In the case of depictions of violence and eroticism, we refer to a target corresponding to FSK 16. The competition management reserves the right to ask for adaptations or to reject videos from the competition with justification. In cases of adaptation (censorship), the unchanged video will be judged, but the modified video will be shown.

AMVs that demonstrably use other AMVs as a source will be disqualified from the competition.

Furthermore, this year we prohibit the significant use of generative AI, while autofill and other features (often imposed by the editor software) remain allowed. This aspect of the rules will be reviewed again over the next few years until a uniform solution for AMVs (and general consensus in society) can be found. If you want to use generative AI, we refer you to other AMV contests as a platform.

Technical data

We ask for the container formats MP4, MKV, WMV, AVI, and for the codec MPEG variants (H264 etc.) or other common codecs. Files over 2 gigabytes will be rejected, and attempts will be made to convert the video to a common format if the file size is excessive or if the codec is exotic. Pay attention to audio that is too loud/quiet, retroactive readjustment of the competition management/stage technology will result in a loss of quality. For a smooth show experience, we recommend a resolution of at least 720p, or what the source material provides, e.g. upscaling from a 480p show is not necessary. The competition management reserves the right to reject videos based on inadequate quality, stating a reason.

As a guideline: If the unmodified Mediaplayer Classic can play the video, a problem-free screening is almost guaranteed. (or MPC with the K-Lite Codec Pack) https://github.com/mpc-hc/mpc-hc/releases/tag/1.7.13

We stipulate a minimum length of 45 seconds and a maximum length of 4 minutes 30 seconds. Justified exceptions within certain limits are possible.

Organizational matters:

One video may be submitted per editor. Multi-editor projects are allowed, and only one of the participants will use up their submission slot.

Exclusivity – The video may not be shown or made public before the broadcast (on the respective contest evening).

There is a grace period for the submission deadline (27.7.26 08:00), but without an individual commitment it cannot be guaranteed that the video can still be included in the evaluation. The evaluation will be as anonymous as possible. Please refrain from using names/watermarks/intros or similar. A separate video can be submitted for broadcast in the competition.

A direct upload will be available for the submission this year. We hope that this will lead to faster and more reliable feedback, as well as making internal processes more efficient. More accurate

If participants are unable to attend the award ceremony, they will be contacted by email. The contact details of a deputy can also be provided (full name of the person; the person must be able to identify themselves) Prizes will NOT be forwarded abroad!

If certain regulations are unclear or you need help, we will be happy to assist you. Just ask your question via our contact form and specify AMV in the “Area” window so that we can process your question faster.
